Whimsey

Inspired by two teeny journals by Ali and Bobbie,I decided to mimic the shapes in theirs and do my own. I call it Whimsey. Literally, every time I went by my studio for about a week,I went in,at totally at randon,at my whimsey, added something. Whether it be an old ATC, a snippet of a face, old insulator wires, Gelli Plate papers, old scrapbooking scraps,Washi tapes,a quote, yarn, doodles, rolled magazine beads...whatever just sprung into my head.
These are pix of just some of the pages.
I have to say that it was really really fun,and I plan on doing more Whimsey mini-journals!

Summer artwork

Longtime no blog! Haven't been in the mood,I guess.....
Some recent artwork:
First, this is a tag I made for the AATCUK group swap, the them of which was vintage medical images. Fun fun fun!
These next four pix are of pages I made for my friend Ali's journal. She did four for my journal  in June too.We gave each other 4 themes, and worked on pages for each other's journal...a really fun concept.
Her first was "Hope" On the back of the little tag is a personal message of hope tht I have for Ali. The girl stamp is by the fabuous Julie Nutting,of course! Hi Julie!

A portrait theme led to this...love using my Twinks!

Ali wanted me to write a poem,so of course I did a Haiku. Background by Gelli!!!
Summer/sun was the theme...this means "the sun makes me sing",in old Provençal.

For the Ancestor's round robin, these were my pages for Karen...check out the wonderful cab card photo I used of the lady and the crocodile...Karen is from Bayou country!

Soulful quotes from Karen Ika

For this month's soul journal,Ali gave us quotes to choose from by someone named Karen Ika.I had fun picking some, and using some Gelli Plate papers, new stencils, and old ephemera from Art Chix and more. I decided to make a foldout section using all four weeks' worth, using a common motif and theme.....

Haiku Gelli journal

At this years Keys4Art,Jacquie showed us how to use a Rigid Wrap Plaster Cloth to get a GREAT texture for a book cover. Then of course we all played with our Gelli Plates that our wonderful elena had bought for all of us.I had been thinking for awhile of making a very simple book to highlight some of the many Haikus I've written in the past couple of years, mostly for the Asian journal Round Robin. I immediately knew in Key Largo what I wanted to do. I put the journal together using ony duct tape(remember,Elena?!?!?!?!LOLOL!)Then on each page is only a haiku and a simple object or picture  representing it.
I must say that I am EXTREMELY pleased with it! It is so tactile and colorful. But simple. Zen-ish. LOVE it!

Celebrating: the FEMALE and SPRING

April's Soul Journal pages are all about celebrating the female:

                          The female inner energies
                        positive affirmations about being female

the female form...this is using a Julie Nutting stamp!thanks again Julie and elena!
                              a "self-portrait"

Next are a couple of pages that I made for Mel in the UK group, using both some GelliPrint pages and fiber paste...

                           Happy Spring everyone!
